Glasgow International Jazz Festival 2008

Glasgow Jazz FestivalThe city wide Glasgow International Jazz Festival kicks off this Friday and Platform is taking part again this year, this time showcasing some of the best homegrown talent.

We are delighted to welcome to Platform, for the first time, Scotland's premiere youth orchestra; Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra and two ofScotland's leading jazz saxophonists Laura McDonald and KonradWiszniewski.

New Community Run Facility for Wellhouse Opened

hubSports‘hubSports’ a 4-court games hall will deliver over 15 different sports activities on a weekly basis.

This will compliment the Trusts other facilities; Innerzone, a youth venue and the Hub, an employment/training facility that have been operational for the past 4 years.

The East End 5K takes place on Sunday 29th June 2008.

This fun family event is aimed at encouraging people from all walks of life and of all ages and abilities to take part. The event is aimed at all levels of ability or fitness - you do not have to run the route, you can walk it, hop it, skip it or jump it if you like!

  • Takes place on Sunday 29th June 2008.
  • Starts at Tollcross Park.
  • Free Entry.
  • Closing date for entries - Friday 20th June 2008.
  • Fancy dress welcome.

Young people in Baillieston, Shettleston and Greater Easterhouse are HAPPY 

Young people at the 'Get stuck in' events At the recent ‘Get stuck in'to this!' event, arranged to find out what issues are important to young people, 85.1% said they are happy when answering a questionnaire.

Other important information highlights  ‘young people want police involved in youth activity’ and ‘smoking, alcohol and drugs are three main health concerns for young people’
