Cosmetic Dentistry Abroad

18 Jun

There are many options for cosmetic dentistry both in the UK and abroad for both patients and dentists alike.  As a result of long patient waiting lists in the UK many patients choose to have cosmetic dentistry abroad. Many dentists in Nottingham contemplate offering their services abroad too and often look at dental guide to practice sales in popular foreign countries such as Greece and Cyprus.

Cosmetic dentistry treatments are not only popular abroad as many patients travel abroad to get restorative treatments done such as cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html treatment. There are many advantages to having cosmetic dentistry abroad such as no waiting lists and individual treatment. A dental treatment abroad could be whilst you are on holiday on the beach in much more relaxing surroundings which is ideal for those nervous patients or those who are apprehensive about dental treatment but need to get it done.

Cosmetic dentistry abroad is significantly cheaper than in the UK as it costs much less to have a treatment abroad than it does to have it here. However one has to consider the hotel charges and flight costs when examining the overall cost of treatment compared from abroad to the UK. The most popular treatments done abroad are dental implants, cosmetic dental treatments and crowns and bridges.

I’ll give you gum contouring in a minute

04 Apr

I recently had gum contouring done at a dentists in Liverpool and I’m ecstatic with the results. I was always upset at how ‘gummy’ my smile was, but after a visit to the dentist it looks so much better. I booked an appointment and he used a laser to cut down at the bits of my gums I wanted to get rid of. People always used to notice how big my gums were, but now all everyone notices is how great I look. I didn’t feel a thing, and it was over really quickly.

Because contouring is cosmetic, I had to go private because the NHS doesn’t cover the procedure. It cost me a couple of hundred pounds, but it was definitely worth it for me. My gums were really sore for a while after I had it done, but it was nothing a few painkillers couldn’t solve. I think, to justify the cost of getting it done, you need to be completely sure it’s what you want and of the difference it will make. Also, make sure your dentist knows what he’s doing and doesn’t get rid of too much of the gums! Before you make an appointment, research up on which dentist you want to go to.

Braces, Inman aligners and invisalign; the latest designer braces for the busy person

01 Apr

Braces used to be unsightly, but these days they are designed and not just plonked onto your teeth for the world to see. The Inman Aligner and the Invisalign Braces are the choice that most people are making these days. The Inman is a clever design in that it isn`t just a brace, but a set of braces. It is an all built in device that allows the wearer the flexibility of controlling the times when they need to wear them. They are used to straighten the front teeth only though, but they do this job really well. It is a clear looking brace with just a thin bar running across the front to show it`s there, unlike the Invisalign Brace which is designed to do the job and look invisible. The Invisalign works on all the teeth both top and bottom, front and back, although neither will work on impacted teeth. The process is a computer designed one, and starts off with a series of digital photos and X-rays being taken, your dentist will also make a mould of your teeth. These are all scanned into the program which then works out all the movement pressures needed to straighten your specific teeth. This information is needed by an orthodontist to make a set of braces. These are replaced every two weeks on your regular visits to the dentist, at the same time you can both see that the progress in motion. This is possible because at the same time of working out all the pressure maths on the program, the computer will also make a 3D film using computer generated imagery. The film will take you through all the stages to show you when and where the misaligned teeth will be as you go along. At the end you will see a still image in 3D of exactly what your new teeth will look like. The flexabilty allows the wearer to take the gum shield style braces out when they are eating and cleaning their teeth, there is a recommended daily time of 20 hours that you will be required to wear them. The time it takes is variable as it will depend on the amount of movement required. The process to move your teeth into a straighter position will also make the blood flow in the gums work in a different way, it allows for new bone deposits to build up behind the teeth, and make sure they stay in their new position for their lifetime.

Crowns

17 Mar

Sometimes you may encounter or experience conditions that can lead to you developing broken down, cracked damaged teeth. The circumstances that may lead to this kind of conditions can often be unavoidable meaning that you were not actually borne like that and you are neither to blame in the least. Crown wills offer you the best solution because they are used for protecting your teeth against these kinds of problems by acting as restorative devices. What they achieve is that they cover the entire outer surface by sitting on the affected tooth.

You will often require different crowns for different reasons for instance If your teeth has gone through some form of extensive tooth decay. If a large proportion of your teeth gets off and leaves no chance of building it up with the normal bonding process, then crowns can effectively solve this problem. Another condition that is suited for crowns is when one’s tooth has a large cavity that calls for extra attention. A crown can equally be fitted to the abutment of the implant; just in case you undertook a dental implant for replacing a missing tooth. It is also suitable after root canal treatments for specifically to strengthen the tooth.

In conditions where you grind your teeth and you also have a poor diet, then you are likely to experience acid erosion among your teeth, hence reducing them quite extensively. It is advisable that a crown be applied. Basically, you CROWN the teeth. Porcelain cosmetic crowns are the best for improving the aesthetics related to smiling for different personalities. A number of materials are used to make crowns, for example full gold and fused metal alloys. Costs will be determined by different conditions and can change among different dentists. Approximately, the costs for treatments by Nottingham dentists involving the use of crowns will range from £250 to £2,000 per treated tooth.
