Main Activities & Facilities

The Greater Easterhouse Environmental Trust is a not-for-profit organisation that works with community groups, social organisations and housing providers of Greater Easterhouse to help improve the local environment for the benefit of all local residents.


Who Uses Our Service

The Environmental Trust is available to work with all community and residents groups and social organisations for the benefit of the Greater Easterhouse area. The Environmental Trust has a number of staff working on its behalf, and also provides training opportunities and work placements amongst its workforce.

Provanhall HouseThe Environmental Trust’s Development Team are based at Provanhall House and are on hand to provide advice and guidance with project development, planning and implementation of environmental improvement schemes, technical specifications, funding applications, recycling and waste management and other environmental issues. The Operations Team provide a hard and soft landscaping service on a completely not-for-profit basis. The Operations Team is staffed by trainees who work with qualified trainers and supervisors to gain on-the-job training and qualifications in construction and landscaping skills. Active Projects

Litter Prevention SchemeThe Environmental Trust’s Development Team is currently working with a number of housing providers to develop themed Open Space projects throughout Greater Easterhouse, in addition to assisting the Greater Easterhouse Partnership with the latest Peoples’ Panel survey. Long-term partnership projects such as the new Easthall Community Park and Gladiator Project’s All Weather Sports Pitches will be completed in 2004. The Environmental Trust is also the lead organisation in a pilot project to replace disposable nappies with Real Nappies in local nursery schools. The project is being carried out in partnership with Glasgow City Council, Childcare Greater Easterhouse and local childcare providers and will commence in September 2004. If successful the pilot project will be implemented city-wide.

 

 

Easterhouse MosaicThe Operations Team currently sustain contracts to provide a Grounds Maintenance service to 3 local housing providers, in addition to providing a 7-days-a-week Litter Prevention service for the Glasgow Fort Retail Park. The Operations Team are able to tender for commercial construction works, and have been working on the Easterhouse Mosaic throughout the summer to painstakingly remove the wall mounted mural for restoration work.
