Greater Easterhouse Learning Network (GELN)
Available for all people living or working in Greater Easterhouse
The network is here for every one to use to learn, to develop skills and to find information needed.
You don't need to become a student at John Wheatley College to use the network. If you decide to become a student you will also get an email account and learner support services.
The learning network is led and supported by the college but in partnerships with centres and funders, merging college services with the community.
The learning network consists of 13 learning centres with broadband internet access through John Wheatley College.
The network provides:
- access to Internet and email services for everyone in Greater Easterhouse,
- access to IT skills development support for everyone in Greater Easterhouse,
- access to literacy skills development support services for everyone in Greater Easterhouse,
- an integrated local information service through the Pathfinder website,
The local information service through the Pathfinder provides:
- support to local community organisations and development agencies
- access points directly provided through 160 learning centre PCs,
- indirectly through the community representatives project
- a local starting point for Internet services
- a publishing reference point for local groups (e.g. the Trondra history project
