The sun was definitely shining on the Greater Easterhouse Environmental Trust’s Launch Event, held at Provanhall House on Friday 25th June. Despite a spell of recent bad weather the rain stayed away and the guests were able to bask in the sunshine whilst enjoying a walk in the gardens at Provanhall House, where the event was held. A large marquee had been erected in the grounds to provide shelter if needed, but it remained empty for most of the day!

The launch was attended by over 100 people representing Greater Easterhouse’s communities and organisations. The day was opened with an address from MSP Margaret Curran, followed by brief speeches from Councillor Ronnie Quinn and Frances Clark, Directors of the Environmental Trust, and from the Environmental Trust’s manager Mark Smith.

The agenda for the day was mostly informal, and offered those attending the chance to chat with the Environmental Trust’s Board members and staff to find out more about the projects and employment opportunities that the Environmental Trust is currently providing. Additionally the guests were able to enjoy the first viewing of a new exhibition from Trondra Arts and Heritage group, along with a brief history lesson about Provanhall and the surrounding area.

The Environmental Trust is now looking forward to getting involved in many of the projects that were suggested on the day.
