Family FUN Week in the Learning Network Family Fun week which ran from 02/10/06 – 06/10/06 in the Greater Easterhouse Learning Network promotes FUN learning to people of all ages. Adults were asked to become an internet detective and find information from different websites, the prize of a meal for two at the John Wheatley College training restaurant was won by Angela Duffy from Rogerfield. Secondary school aged young people created a music file using software on the computers; this competition was won by Declan Kelly from Provanhall. The Primary school aged kids completed an internet treasure hunt and won a goodie bag. Mary Rodger from Provanhall said: I think it's great it gives my seven year old grand-son some-where to go and have the opportunity to learn.
And Joanne Brannan, administrator at Community Connections Learning Centre said: I see Family FUN week a good opportunity for the adults to come along and find out just what it is the kids do in the learning centres and hopefully encourages them to come along and access the services themselves. There were 5 sessions in learning centres that were supported by Judy Long – Lochend Family Learning Project, Betty McElhatton – PAL Literacies Key Worker and Brian McQuillan – Network Learning Support Officer that took place across the week with each session lasting 2 hours. We would like to thank F.A.R.E., Glenburn, The Hub, Community Connections and Bishoploch Learning Centres’ staff for taking part. |
