Success again for the EastFest music event!
Friday the 18th at the bridge witnessed the 2nd highly successful Eastfest Music event.
Over 250 happy show goers enjoyed four fabulous acts in the main theatre with a special half time acoustic event in the café theatre.
Folk, blues, metal and rock
The show kicked off with up and coming talent Katie Sutherland. Her very own brand of acoustic folk/blues had the crowd spellbound. Well-known local band Reg Barclay changed the mood completely with a blistering set of metal and rock featuring well-known covers as well as original material .
Half time and acoustic sets from Ross Ferguson, Kerry Hunter and more from Katie Sutherland kept the big crowd in enthusiastic mood till the stage was set for Collette McEndrick. A mix of classical piano, modern blues and funk. Colette and her highly talented band kept things moving along till the high point of the evening – Action by Issues, a young local band playing a unique brand of pop punk had the crowd dancing and cheering for more. Only too soon was it all over. Till the next one, which is by the way a dance event featuring over 50 young people on June 2nd – Tickets from the box office at the bridge.
Young organisation
This event was organised and run by the young people themselves – from choosing and approaching the bands to stage management, sound video and photography, plus marketing and set design every stage was looked after by Young people from Innerzone, Pavilion, John Wheatley College; HNC Sound, and more. Eastfest has been responsible for the two most highly attended events at the bridge so far and it is hoped that many more will follow.
