Family Fun Week at the Learning Centres.
Young people from all over Easterhouse had a great time during the week of 14th – 18th May when they attended the popular Family Fun Week in the Learning Centres throughout Greater Easterhouse.
Internet treasure hunt and music creation
There was the opportunity for the children to do Internet treasure hunts about animals, do animal art activities or play animal bingo at a different Learning Centre each day. Teenagers created their own music on the computer and made computer animations to bring their music to life. Adults were able to research their family history on the Internet. Prizes were available for everyone.
Fun learning for all ages
Family Fun Week promotes how enjoyable and useful learning using computers at the learning centres can be for people of all ages.
“Family Fun Week gives local adults the opportunity to share in their children’s learning and find out more about services that are available in the local learning centre.”
Claire Porter Project Co-ordinator of The Pavillion said.
"The children who come along realise how much fun learning using the computer can be,” added Judy Long, Lochend Learning Community Network Development Officer."
Organisers
Family Fun Week was organised in partnership with the Greater Easterhouse Learning Network, Positive About Literacy, John Wheatley College and the Lochend Family Learning Project. The Learning Centres are facilitated by the Greater Easterhouse Learning Network, equipped with computers with broadband access through John Wheatley College and also part-funded by the Baillieston, Greater Easterhouse & Shettleston Community Planning Partnership Board.
