Say Bye Bye to Cellulite

24 Mar

Have you noticed that the cellulite and dimpling on your thighs, buttocks, and abdomen simply will not budge, no matter what home remedies you have tried? Do the backs of your thighs resemble cottage cheese or have a texture like that of oranges? Don’t be too hard on yourself, because even in women who have never gained weight, cellulite can remain a frustrating problem. So much so in fact, that she will not wear a bathing suit nor skirt, nor shorts out in public. Cellulite is caused from trapped fat pushing up against the muscle fibers and connective tissue. Some individuals swear that sweating will reduce cellulite, but the fact is in the majority of cases, it is a genetic condition. Thankfully, there is a cosmetic surgery called liposuction.

Liposuction is just one form of cosmetic surgery that allows the individual to look and feel better. In a nutshell, liposuction uses a steel cannula to remove by suctioning, the trapped fat from specific areas on the body. Years ago a large cannula was used to remove the fat which led to bleeding, longer recovery time, anesthesia and and Intravenous fluids. Presently, the most common technique when performing laser liposuction is the Tumescent, because it is a much safer and quicker surgery. Tumescent works by making tiny incisions, inserting a micro sized cannula, then removing unwanted fat from the precise location marked. The benefits are administering local anesthesia compared to the more potent general anesthesia, faster recovery time, minimal blood loss, reduction of scarring, no intravenous fluids needed, less bruising, and lidocaine used as a pain reliever.

Once the cosmetic procedure is completed, you will be advised to wear a body girdle for up to 3 weeks to prevent swelling. If the liposuction was performed on your legs, you will need to wear support stockings. You may also have had a drainage tube inserted to keep the chance of infection low. Some plastic surgeons prefer to use staples or stitches to close incisions, but most will use nothing at all. The support of the elastic girdle should assist in keeping the wounds closed. It may take up to 6 months to see the full results of your newly sculpted body.
