Greater Easterhouse has some of the richest natural
habitats in the city of Glasgow. In recent years there
has been a growing concern for nature conservation,
and in response to that, Glasgow now has 5 designated
Sites of Special Scientific Interest. (SSI’s)
Bishop Loch in Greater Easterhouse is one of these SSI’s.
There are also many more City-wide Sites of Important
for Nature Conservation, and a number of these lie within
the area – Hogganfield Park, Garnkirk Moss and
Lochwood Wetlands, to name but a few.
