Main Activities & Facilities

The Beacon is a purpose built play centre designed to provide an exciting, challenging and stimulating experience for young people up to the age of 15. The facility is situated in a large park space and provides a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities.

INDOOR
The centre features a games hall, activity room, soft play area, children’s library, computer access for children, museum display and foyer area. All areas are easily accessible, and designed with children in mind.

OUTDOOR
Play on the slides, swings and climbing frames. Explore the environmental area. Bring your bike or skates and have fun on the track and ramps. Join in the sports and games on the multi purpose pitch or large grass areas. There is lots of space for everyone to play.

WEEKEND AND EVENINGS
Why not drop in, the activities vary enormously but include games, sports, arts and crafts, computer time, quizzes and clubs. The programme changes regularly to ensure that all children can make use of the magnificent facilities. The centre runs a membership system for regular users, £1.00 per year.

HOLIDAYS
If you are looking for something to do on the school holidays the centre runs special holiday programmes. Times may vary according to the time of year, so drop in and pick up a programme or phone for further information. All groups must book in advance.

TERM TIME
The Centre provides a wide variety of services for schools, nurseries, and groups. Please contact centre for details. Please note: The Beacon is not a childcare facility and operates an open access system, which means that children are free to come and go as they please.
